What is the science behind PRP?
- Stem cells are found throughout the body, including the skin. The platelet rich plasma contains growth factors that work to activate stems cells that lie dormant in the skin. When activated, the stem cells have the ability to grow new younger looking skin.
- Platelets naturally aggregate near a site of injury or damaged tissue, as a result they begin releasing different growth factors that stimulate multipotent stems cells to develop into new tissue and blood vessels to repair that tissue. Multipotent cells have the ability to develop into whatever cell type is required to repair the injury. By initiating growth of new tissue in planned areas of the face, in the absence of actual injury, a more natural, youthful, and glowy appearance can be created.
What is the PRP Facelift?
- A non-surgical procedure where Dr. Smoot injects PRP (from the patients own blood) into various areas of the patient’s face to help treat wrinkles, acne scars, and give the patient a more rejuvenated appearance.
- PRP Facelift typically includes naturally occurring hyaluronic acid filler injection with PRP layered on top. The hyaluronic acids provides a foundation for the platelet rich plasma to bind to enhance the healing effects.
How much does the PRP injections cost?
